Building Apps for Mobile Platforms
Call 212-353-4195 to register
The steadily increasing emergence of smaller, smarter and connected devices has opened the doors of new computer applications and services. Applications, originally written for the desktop, are not compatible with mobile devices. In this course, students learn the mobile development environments for Apple iOS (iPhone and iPad) using Xcode, Android (ICS and JB versions) using Eclipse, and Windows Phone and Surface tablet using Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012. Participants are guided in developing applications for each platform that covers user interface (UI), user experience (UX); and responsive design in native platforms. The course emphasizes the key programming languages for mobile development: Objective-C for Apple iOS, Java for Android, and C# for Windows. Students will also learn the necessary fundamentals of the respective platform application frameworks; e.g., Cocoa for iOS; Android Application Framework; and .NET for Windows. Classes will be held in a computer laboratory and conducted as lectures and demonstrations. Each student will demonstrate their understanding and subsequent mastery of the concepts covered by submitting a mobile application (with possible back-end data processing/serving tier).
This class will be taught by three instructors: Igor Belyayev, Rob Marano, and Kevin Tulod
