Introduction to 3-D Printing
This course is designed for artists, hobbyists, and makers of all types who want an introduction to this exciting technology. The course does not require knowledge of coding. Students survey the concepts, techniques, machines and materials used in 3-D printing. They learn to use a simple 3-D modeling program, SketchUp, as well as the resources available in Thingiverse. Hands-on projects start with designing simple extrusions and primitive shapes which are then printed. Students go on to explore modeling slightly more complex objects and develop them into final printing projects. Students should bring their laptops to the class.
